How to use the schema markup generator

  1. In the Schema type dropdown, choose what you want to mark up: product, organization, FAQ, or article.
  2. Fill in the fields of the selected type. For a product these are product name, brand, description, image URL, SKU, price, currency, availability, and optionally rating (1–5) and number of reviews. For an organization you add name, website URL, logo URL, short description, and your social media profiles (one URL per line). With the FAQ type you create as many question-and-answer pairs as you like via „Add another question“; with article you enter headline, short description, image URL, publication date, author, and publisher.
  3. Under Your JSON-LD code, the generator rebuilds the markup live with every input. Click Copy – the button confirms with „Copied!“ that the finished script block is on your clipboard.

How to read the generated code

Every block starts with @context and @type – that is how Google recognizes which schema type it is. The generator automatically omits empty fields to keep the markup clean: as long as you don’t enter a price, the entire offers block is missing, and the stars via aggregateRating only appear when both rating and review count are filled in. With the FAQ type, only pairs where question and answer are both filled in end up in the code – half-empty entries are ignored.

Practical tips for clean markup

Write prices and ratings with a decimal point (49.99, not 49,99) – schema.org expects the US format even if your store displays a comma in the frontend. For image and logo URLs always use complete, publicly accessible https addresses, otherwise Google cannot fetch the files.

Update the markup as soon as the price or availability in your store changes – outdated information leads to discrepancies between the snippet and the page. You can check whether your page’s headline and description also fit as a search snippet with our meta tag length checker.

Frequently asked questions

What is schema markup and what do I need it for?
Schema markup is structured data following the schema.org standard that tells search engines in JSON-LD format what a page contains. Google can use it to create rich results like star ratings, prices, or FAQ dropdowns in the search results. This increases the visibility and click-through rate of your pages.
How do I create JSON-LD for my website?
Choose the matching schema type in the generator above, for example Product, FAQPage, or Organization, and fill in the fields. The generator turns them into finished JSON-LD that you copy and paste into the head section of your page. You don't need any programming skills for that.
Where do I paste JSON-LD in Shopify or WordPress?
In Shopify you paste the script into the matching template file, for example product.liquid for product pages or theme.liquid for the whole store. In WordPress you either use an SEO plugin with a schema feature or the theme header. Pasting directly into the source code is more reliable than going through Google Tag Manager.
Which schema markup is important for online stores?
For stores, the most worthwhile types are Product with price and availability, AggregateRating for star ratings, BreadcrumbList for clean navigation paths, and Organization for the knowledge panel. The generator above covers these types and outputs them as finished JSON-LD.
How do I test whether my schema markup works correctly?
Check the pasted markup with Google's free Rich Results Test or the Schema.org validator. Make sure that required fields like price and currency are filled in and that the information matches the visible page content exactly, otherwise Google ignores the markup.
